INL’s implementing partner ICITAP Serbia, together with OPDAT, put on a Transnational Organized Crime (TOC) round-table in Vrnjacka Banja from December 4-6, 2017. Police Investigators and Prosecutors from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, as well as the FBI Legal Attache took part in the round-table where they discussed recent and ongoing TOC drug, migrant, and weapons cases, investigative successes and failures, importance of operational analysis, as well as future information sharing.

The goal of the round-table was to share best practices, point out deficiencies, and propose solutions for transnational crime/smuggling investigations. It was concluded that more round-tables of this format should be organized in future, as regional cooperation and direct law enforcement contacts greatly contribute to investigative and prosecutor successes.
