Over the past few years I have had many people ask me what mobile apps I find most useful for public diplomacy work. In response to these requests, I decided to create a PDF which I now release annually. Fresh off the press, here’s my 2016 Mobile Apps for Public Diplomacy List (these app are also listed below).

★ Slack – All your team communication in one place, instantly searchable, available wherever you go.
★ Google Apps – Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drive, Hangout, and Authenticator.
★ ToDoist – A task keeping app, lists automatically sync across multiple devices.
★ Evernote – Gets you effortlessly organized with notes that sync between all your devices.
★ Circa – Know when you can connect and quickly create meeting invitations that work for everyone globally.
★ IF – If this then that, from posting to turning on lights you can automate everything connected to the internet of things.
★ Basecamp 2 – project management and collaboration tool.
★ Scannable – Scan business cards, receipts, and documents. Quick scans, ready to export to PDF or JPG.
★ Speek – Free conference line, notifies you when users join the call and provide analytics on participation in the call.
★ Prezi – Great for animating presentations.

NEWS:

★ Nuzzle – Connect your social media to see the top news stories shared by your friends.
★ Flipboard – Allows creation of magazine style news feeds to quickly read articles.
★ BBC News – World news articles and audio, with breaking news notifications.
★ Wildcard – news and entertainment broken down into easy, understandable experience.
★ Castro – Podcast aggregator. Great for BBC World News or State Dept. Press Briefings.

PHOTOGRAPHY:

★ VSCO Cam – Great new filter app, it even lets you share to Weibo.
★ Over – Add typography to your images for social media.
★ ReTouch – Quickly retouch photos and remove objects.
★ Flickr – Share and filter event photos to your program’s account.
★ 645 Pro MK II – For serious amateur mobile phone photographers.

★ Periscope – broadcast live video to the world.
★ Cameo – Shoot, edit and share beautiful short films in minutes.
★ Vine – Create fun looping videos for social media.
★ Time Lapse – Generate time lapse videos of your events to share on social media.

AUDIO:

★ Spotify – Provides instant access to millions of songs for free.
★ Pandora – Listen to a free personalized radio. Great for event background music.

SOCIAL MEDIA

★ Mention – Monitor all social media and the internet by keyword.
★ Hootsuite – Track and schedule social media posts across a multitude of platforms.
★ Pages – Update and engage with your Facebook page followers.
★ Facebook – Keep up with friends, groups, and pages.

★ Duolingo – Practice multiple languages on the go and compete with friends!★ Codecademy – Interested in learning about code? Try out this gamified app which was developed for ‘Hour of Code’.
★ Credly – The universal way to recognize, share and celebrate achievement in any setting.

TRAVEL:
