Serbia complies with all international standards when it comes to national minorities’ rights. The Serbian election system is clear that a 5% threshold is not applied to the electoral lists submitted by national minorities, as their parliamentary seats are decided according to the so-called natural threshold principle.

This means that Croatian lists might earn three seats, should they stand independently. The decision made by the Croatian Democratic Alliance of Vojvodina to be on the list of the Democratic Party is directed against the Croats’ interests. Therefore, the Croatian Democratic Alliance of Vojvodina, and not the state of Serbia, is to take criticism. I said this to Minister Kovac when we met at the Amsterdam meeting of EU/WB Foreign Ministers.
