Serbia can always count on Germany’s support, German Ambassador to Belgrade Thomas Schieb said at a reception hosted on the occasion of German Unity Day.

 

“I am firmly convinced that the future of Serbia and the countries of the Western Balkans lies in the European Union and that they will enrich the EU, and there is still a lot of work to do on that road,” he said, “so I am more happy that the Government of the Republic of Serbia wholeheartedly accepted the challenges of this time.

The reception attended by President of the National Assembly of Serbia Maja Gojković and Prime Minister Ana Brnabić.

He, referring to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the unification of Germany, said that that date marks the end of a century that was marked, not only in Germany, but throughout Europe, war, devastation, suffering, embarrassment and unimaginable crimes that were launched on the soil of Germany.

The reception at the residence of the German Embassy was attended by representatives of the government, diplomatic corps, political, public and cultural life of Serbia.
