How to enable fast exchange of information in the city administration? What are the fastest ways to collect information from different departments? How to ensure that the decisions on the local level are in line with the national legislation? These are some of the questions that the city Vranje addressed innovatively: by creating an internal communications portal.

The portal went live on October 10, 2019 and it was developed by the department for information and communication technologies of the city of Vranje. It is available to all employees, regardless of the function in the city administration. Similar to the functioning of the forum, a topic can be opened, questions posted and answered with replies – in this way questions are addressed actively, and challenges faced transparently. Moreover, the portal reduced the time needed for collection and exchange of information. Most importantly, it makes the city administration more efficient in addressing citizens needs and the work of civil servants easier to navigate.

The development of the communications portal was supported by the German-Serbian Development Cooperation project „Support to Public Administration Reform“, implemented by GIZ in cooperation with Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities.
