It has been a year already since the Responsible Business Hub (RBH) of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce has been set up with support of the German Development Cooperation in Serbia (GIZ). A year full of intensive work and great achievements. RBH has become a valuable partner and resource to the companies participating in international supply chains to adapt and comply with new regulations and requirements regarding the protection of human rights and environmental protection.

RBH’s mission is to improve the ability of the private sector in Serbia to understand and adapt to the new sustainability standards from the German Act on Corporate Due Diligence Obligations in Supply Chains, and upcoming EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). By establishing business practices that comply with international human rights and environmental standards, Serbian enterprises increase their competitiveness on the European market.

Over the past year, RBH has created a pool of over 20 consultants who can now offer services to local companies on carbon management. Furthermore, over 200 representatives of Serbian companies went through RBH’s workshops and gained knowledge on how to report under the new Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). In 2024, the pool will be enlarged with consultants trained in sustainability management and human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD).

The presence of representatives from Serbian regulatory bodies, the EU Delegation, the German Embassy and Development Cooperation, international organizations, and the media at this anniversary event sends a strong message that the RBH is progressing towards its goal of becoming a key player and service provider in the Serbian economy.
