“A chance is worth more than a thousand plans!” says an old Arab proverb that was quoted by Brankica Janković, Commissioner for Equality, by Amr Fathi Mohamed Alguvejli, the former ambassador of Egypt in Belgrade.
Today, Amr is the ambassador of Egypt at the headquarters of the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Brankica and Amr met in the UN building in New York, where she represented Serbia at the ICPD International Conference on Population and Development, and he gave a lecture on negotiation skills in multilateral diplomacy. As those two halls were across from each other, old friends from Belgrade met and over coffee reminisced about the old days from the time of Amr’s service in Serbia. Of course, photography for “Diplomacy & Commerce” was a given.
