H.E. Mrs. Imen Laajili Ammari, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia in Serbia, held a conference entitled “ Tunisia, the Spirit of Carthage” on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Dom Omladine in Belgrade

This conference was a part of panel series of the Arab Embassies accredited in Serbia, organized by the Arabic Cultural Center in Belgrade.

Besides the 3000 years of History making Tunisia a crossroad of civilizations and the Jewel of the Mediterranean, Mrs. LAAJILI, presented the Tunisian culture, tourism, foreign policy and bilateral relations with Serbia. A special focus has been put on the “Status of Women in Tunisia” and their important role in the construction of the modern State.

The main speakers were also, Prof. Milan Radovanović, author of the book “Silent witnesses”, who talked about the large number of Serbian soldiers who were, during the First World War, greeted, treated in hospitals and cherished by the Tunisian people. Mr. Marko Jelić, Director of the Museum of the Serbia Post, held a speech that reminded the audience of the importance of the Post Office, especially during hard times, as it was during the First World War, when thousands of Serbian soldiers exchanged letters with their families in Serbia.

This event recalled once again that Tunisian and Serbian peoples are bonded by the unbreakable historical ties and long-lasting friendship.
