*** As of 12:01 a.m. EDT June 12, 2022, the CDC order requiring all persons aged two and above to show a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before boarding a flight to the United States, is rescinded. Starting at 12:01 a.m. EDT on June 12, 2022, the CDC will no longer order air passengers to show a negative COVID-19 test result, or show documentation of recovery from COVID-19, prior to boarding a flight to the United States. Of note, CDC’s Order requiring proof of vaccination for non-U.S. citizen nonimmigrants to travel to the United States is still in effect. Of note:

  • If you are overseas and your passport expired on or after January 1, 2020, you may be able to use your expired passport to return directly to the United States until June 30, 2022. Please see this Message for U.S. Citizens for more details.
  • The American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit at U.S. Embassy Belgrade is open for passport, citizenship, and notarial services. Please check our appointment page frequently for available appointments.
  • In response to COVID-19, and in order to ensure the safety and security of our customers and staff, the following points will strictly apply to anyone with a confirmed ACS appointment:
    • Arrive for your appointment 15 minutes early, to allow time for security screening. If you arrive late, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment for another day.
    • Wear a mask. In response to COVID-19 all customers over the age of 2 must wear masks while at the Embassy. You are required to bring your own mask(s). If you do not have a mask, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment for another day.
    • Come fully prepared for your interview. We must limit the number of customers in our waiting room due to social distancing requirements, so customers will not be allowed to fill out forms in our waiting room, as that would delay serving other customers. Therefore, if you are not fully prepared you will be asked to reschedule your appointment for another day.
    • Plan to use public transportation or have someone drop you off, there is no parking for visitors at the Embassy.

As of June 21, 2022 at 3 p.m Serbia has confirmed:

  • 507 new cases of COVID-19 registered in the past 24 hours
  • 2,023,409 cases of COVID-19 registered in total
  • 16,113 deaths as a result of COVID-19
  • 88 hospitalized patients with COVID-19

COVID-19 Testing

  • Are PCR and/or antigen tests available for U.S. citizens in Serbia? Yes
  • If so, are test results reliably available within 72 hours? Yes
  • U.S. citizens can receive COVID-19 (PCR) tests at the locations below:
    • The Torlak Institute, located at Vojvode Stepe 458 in Belgrade (phone: + 381-11-3953-700, email: office@torlak.rs. The cost for a PCR test is 9,000 dinars. Tests can be scheduled through the Government of Serbia’s eSchedule PCR Testing website (choose “Engleski” from the drop-down menu; select testing site by typing in “Torlak”). Once a test is scheduled, you will receive a system generated payment slip which can be paid at local banks and post offices. Take this payment receipt to your test. Test results are sent to you by email.
    • The Belgrade City Institute for Public Health, located at Bulevar Despota Stefana 54a in Belgrade (phone: +381 11/2078-600, +381 11/2078-601, +381 11/3237-351.The cost for a PCR test is 9,000 dinars. Detailed information can be at Institute’s website. Tests can be scheduled through the Government of Serbia’s eSchedule PCR Testing website by choosing “Engleski” from the drop-down menu, and then by typing in “Beograd” and selecting ” Грaдски зaвoд зa jaвнo здрaвљe Бeoгрaд”). Once a test is scheduled, you will receive a system generated payment slip which can be paid at local banks and post offices. Take this payment receipt to your test. Test results are sent to you by email.
    • U.S. citizens can receive COVID-19 (Antigen) tests at private health institutions throughout Serbia, including at many of those listed on our Medical Assistance webpage. Contact these institutions directly for more information.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

  • Has the government of Serbia approved a COVID-19 vaccine for use? Yes
  • Are vaccines available in Serbia for U.S. citizens to receive? Yes
  • Which vaccines are available in Serbia? Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, and Sinopharm
    • Those in Serbia interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine can express their interest at the Government of Serbia website gov.rs and clicking the green button marked “Pokreni uslugu” or “Покрени услугу.” The next page has a statement that the form is not a consent for the vaccination, but only expressing your interest. Please note that expressing your interest does not guarantee that you will ultimately be selected to receive a vaccine from the Serbian Government. Click the green button to submit a request. On the next page you will fill in your personal information, then answer questions about whether you are interested in receiving any vaccine or only a vaccine from a certain manufacturer, whether you have any underlying health conditions, and whether you are able to leave your residence.
  • Visit the FDA’s website to learn more about FDA-approved vaccines in the United States.
  • The U.S. government does not plan to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to private U.S. citizens overseas. Please follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination.

Entry and Exit Requirements

  • Are U.S. citizens permitted to enter? Yes
  • Is a negative COVID-19 test (PCR and/or serology) required for entry? No
    • Starting May 3, 2022 the Government of Serbia removed all control measures and restrictions related to COVID-19 for entry into Serbia.
  • U.S. citizens who wish to extend their stay in Serbia may apply to do so through the local police station at which they registered.
