President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić welcomed today for a farewell visit the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark Anders Christian Hougård.

President Vučić thanked him on the excellent cooperation and for the fact that he contributed to the improvement of relations between the two countries with his dedicated work and diplomatic experience, reminding that during the mandate of Ambassador Hougård, the head of Danish diplomacy visited Serbia after many years.

President Vučić said he was pleased with Denmark’s interest in intensifying the political dialogue with Serbia because Serbia can learn a lot from Denmark, especially in areas crucial for European integration. On that occasion, he thanked Denmark for its continuous support to Serbia in the negotiation process for membership in the European Union, expressing the expectation that our new Government will intensify its efforts on the European path.

The two interlocutors expressed hope that progress towards the EU, along with sound economic developments in Serbia, would contribute to greater interest from investors from Denmark and companies from that country.

President Vučić also thanked Denmark for being one of our most important donors, and especially for the financial assistance for the implementation of the Regional Housing Program for Refugees and other programs for refugees in Serbia.

President Vučić and Ambassador Hougård also discussed the situation in the region, as well as the global challenges imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, especially on economy.
