Greek investments in Serbia

Based on the data of the Institute for the promotion of exports and investments for the period 2005-2011, Greece is the third large foreign investors in Serbia, behind Austria and Norway. It should be noted, however, that the older appropriate order, for the period 2000-2010, our country is ranked second, right behind the Austrian.

The main areas of activity of Greek investors are banking, wider fields of construction and building materials, retail, telecommunications, hospitality and tourism services, consulting, industry food and beverages and so on. It is worth also be noted that the Greek investments are in all parts of Serbia.

On the Serbian market is estimated that there are about 200 companies of Greek interest, which employ more than 25,000 people. Total direct Greek investments are estimated at about 2 billion. €, while direct and indirect Greek investments together exceed 2.5 billion. €.

Among the major Greek companies operating in Serbia are EKO, Greece sugar industry, TITAN Cement, Coca Cola HBC, Veropulos, Intracom, Alumil, National Bank of Greece, Alpha Bank, Eurobank EFG, Piraeus Bank, IKPP Rokas, Lamda Development, Casino Loutraki, Group Daskalantonakis Group Laskaridis, Isomat, Kleeman, ELVIAL, Thrace Plastics etc.

It should be noted that even during the current economic crisis, the company of Greek interests are still present in the Serbian market, making, of course, every time the necessary moves to adapt to the new economic reality.
