President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić received today the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria, Petko Dojkov. Welcoming him, President Vučić emphasised Serbia’s commitment to strengthening overall relations with Bulgaria, in the spirit of friendship and mutual understanding.

Ambassador Dojkov conveyed to President Vučić the greetings of President Radev and Prime Minister Borisov. Greeting in return, President Vučić said that the relations between the two countries had been raised to a significantly higher level through joint efforts. The interlocutors stated that Bulgaria is one of the most important partners of Serbia in terms of the trade volume and also pointed out that there are opportunities for improving cooperation in the field of investments, joint production capacities and programmes, and joint appearance on third markets.
 
They also stated that the completion of the highway from Sofia to the border between the two countries, as well as other infrastructure projects, will be of the greatest importance for both Serbia and Bulgaria.
 
President Vučić thanked for the support Bulgaria provides to the process of European integration of Serbia.
 
President Vučić also emphasised the importance of cooperation through the format of the Quadrilateral, i.e. the High Council for Cooperation of Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania and Greece, because he considers it very important for the development of good neighbourly relations and promotion of peace and stability in the region, as well as social and economic development.
