BELGRADE – Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic met on Monday with Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Arif Mahmood, and said he was glad to see progress in the cooperation between Serbia and Pakistan, notably in the military industry.

“Serbia cultivates a friendship with Pakistan, despite the fact that we do not have the same positions on certain issues. Pakistan recognized the unilateral independence of Kosovo-Metohija and we know how this had come about,” the Serbian president said.

However, despite the crisis and spending cuts, there is a need in Serbian diplomacy to consider opening an embassy in Islamabad, the president’s press office quoted Nikolic as saying.

The Pakistani Ambassador said his country supported Serbia’s EU agenda and Belgrade-Pristina dialogue
