Security Alert – U. S. Embassy Belgrade, Serbia (April 5, 2018)
Location: Partizan and Red Star Soccer Stadiums near Auto Komanda Circle in Belgrade
Event: Soccer clubs Partizan and Red Star will both play games today, Thursday, April 5, 2018, at their stadiums in Belgrade starting at 5:00 p.m. The two stadiums are close to each other and there is a potential for clashes between Partizan and Red Star fans before or after the games.
On Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. Partizan will play Red Star at Red Star Stadium in Belgrade. This is a high risk event because of animosity between fans and past clashes in and around the stadium.
Expect a large police presence and traffic disruptions for both events. Embassy personnel are generally advised to avoid the vicinity of high-profile sporting events.
