Speed Business Meeting
Belgrade, September 19, 2021 – The Slovenian Business Club (SBC), Serbian Association of Managers (SAM) and Canadian-Serbian Business Association (CANSEE) organized a Speed Business Meeting – Fall Edition at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Belgrade, which was also the event’s partner, in addition to Cargo-Partner.
In order to connect foreign and domestic business people, 12 eight-minute one-on-one meetings were held. This popular event was attended by the representatives of 59 companies from various business sectors, who, with the view of furthering their business, had the opportunity to connect with each other, expand their contact base and thus present their companies, products and services.

As part of the recent negotiations between the Serbian and German governments, the Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Dr Maria Flachsbarth, together with her team, visited the German Information Centre for Migration, Vocational Training and Career (DIMAK), which operates within the National Employment Service of the Republic of Serbia (NES). What are the future challenges for digital diplomacy?
Last week I had the opportunity to partake in a conference organized by the Diplo Foundation asking- what do we mean when use the term “digital diplomacy”. During the conference I was asked three questions on the past, present and future practice of digital diplomacy. This post includes my answer and analysis.
Q: How have areas of focus and priorities in digital diplomacy changed over time and what are some of the key issues going forward?
I think there are four main issues that will shape the practice of digital diplomacy in the coming years. First, is managing the relationship between nations states and big tech. Many have talked about the need to regulate tech companies. According to the Economist, data is the new oil. And just as the US regulated and broke the monopoly of Standard Oil, it may break the monopoly of Facebook.
